How to Use a Time Out Correctly
This qualifies as a parent hack as far as I’m concerned. Most parents don’t realize the opportunity they’re missing when they send their kids off to the disciplinary Siberia of a Time Out. That they can also take some time out for themselves.
We’ve got so much to do as parents. Always. Nonstop. Forever it seems. We’ve learned how to open a dishwashing machine with a foot while reviewing homework as we cut off the crusts for our kids for the sandwich we’re making for them because they didn’t eat what we made them for dinner.
So many things, all at the same time. It’s like some recycling of time we perform. Using the repurposed pulp of doing laundry to fashion a call to the school about a homework assignment.
Multitasking isn’t a technique, it’s a state of mind. A non-insane state of mind for parents. Hopefully.
