  Glad to know that my family isn’t the only family that calls that a “turtle”—or, should I say my husband’s family. Its an interesting world I live in.

    Ha ha! Brilliant! My brother and I used to call it a yertle. Yes. As in Yertle the Turtle. Life’s better when it’s interesting. 😉

  Hence the phrase “A turtle’s heid is pokin’ oot” when one is eager to poop 😉
  It’s a known “thing”, especially in the UK.

    Lizzie’s parents are from England. So this makes much more sense but is still hilarious.

    P.S. I submit that “turtle” is 10 times more amazing a word when said with a Scottish accent.

      Turtle is one of the words best said by a Scot. Also: curry, murder, burger, and baby (but not necessarily in the same sentence). And curse words. Noone can swear like a Scot.

      P.S. In our house, the turtle phrase is used by my hubbie, I prefer “I’m touching cloth!”

  We say “prairie-doggin'” as in “Can you drive a little faster?!? I’m prairie-doggin’ over here!!!”
