Kid’s Day – Scrabble Scribble #8

Scrabble Scribble Comic 8 Kid's Day

It makes sense when you think about it from a kid’s perspective: there’s a Mother’s Day and a Father’s Day, so why not a Kid’s Day, right?

Totally right, if it weren’t for all of the wrongness that comes from the fact that we parents spend every single one of our days slaving to keep them fed, clean, clothed, housed, educated, entertained, etc., etc., etc, infinity. The kid logic really would be airtight though, if it weren’t for all of that.

Happy Father’s Day, my fellow dads!

when I was a kid I asked my mom this exact question, and she gave almost the same answer. “EVERYday is kids day”

  • You can tell Lucas that there are countries out there that celebrate Children’s Day (October 12 in Brazil). He might require moving soon.

    • Andy says:

Yeeeeeah, I won’t be telling him that. Best to let him discover it when he’s barely a kid any more. Ha!

  • Pamela says:

In mexico we do have a kid’s day, on april 30. But i totally agree with you about every day being kids day since we become parents.

    • Andy says:

Aside from being in English, this comic probably would have fell on it’s face in Mexico. πŸ˜‰

  • One of my favorite web comics. Keep’em coming. Kids day is every day. πŸ™‚

  • JimMacQ says:

It’s much nicer the way you put it. When I asked that question, the answer had an undertone of “you ungrateful little wretch.”

  • kara says:

May 5th is Children’s Day in Japan. More traditionally, March 3rd is Girl’s Day & May 5th is Boy’s Day.

  • linda says:

I always wondered why they didn’t have one day here. I’m from Mexico and we celebrate on April 30 for children.

    • Andy says:

I wasn’t aware. How is it celebrated? Like a birthday party, but for all of one’s kids?

      • linda says:

Sorry.. Hadn’t read my email.. But hmmm.. Depends how each family celebrates it. My family would do sort of a party where adults set up different food, candy and toy stands and children would be given tickets to exchange for whatever they wanted. πŸ™‚ also the media like TV and radio would hold contests or have festivals or special programming dedicated to children.

        • Andy says:

Oh, interesting. Sounds like a fun holiday. I’m surprised the US hasn’t absorbed it, we seem to love holidays. πŸ˜‰

  • linda says:

yes.. I think it would be fun.. children would surely enjoy it. πŸ™‚
