Gifspirational Posters (Honest Ones for Parents)
When you’re a parent, the already daunting road of Life can seem hard enough to travel without having to drag along flailing kids and all the gear that comes with them. We could all use a little inspiration from time to time. Besides coffee.
Inspirational quotes by famous figures, and nuggets of wisdom from smart people who can spell diarrhea and onomatopoeia on the first try, often take on an unrealistic, sappy shade of sunshine. Let’s freshen up some of these pep talks with more relatable words for parents, that don’t seem like the love child of email spam and a greeting card with glitter.

Dreams don’t always come true or turn out the way you dreamt. Remember, the proverb “the journey is its own reward” can also be a thrilling experience. Even if you miss the jump, you can still stick the “landing.” Or at least make it soft.

So you didn’t wind up a with a secret cave under your house, telephone booths aren’t changing rooms for you, and you don’t own an invisible plane. BUT! There times as a parent when you feel like you saved the world, even if it was just in the form of saving your offspring from a fat lip, a bee sting or a bazillion other fails.

When you look at your kids and think “oh well, they’ll grow out of it,” try to take at look at yourself and all of the things about you, presently, that your parents probably hoped you’d “grow out of” when you were a kid. Individuality: it’s not just for breakfast any more. It’s for the rest of everyone’s life.

Seriously, parents. Figure out how to do it every friggin’ chance you can get. Become a ninja of the not-so-martial-art of naps. Because when you’ve gone without it for long enough, it’s the most addictive thing ever. Shopping? Haha! Sex? Pfffft! Breathing? Okay, you get the idea.
Welp.
I hope this was refreshing. There’s just too much bullish*t out there masquerading as inspiration, and parents are overstocked in the turd department.
