Borned – Scrabble Scribble #14
It can be incredibly hard for kids to imagine their parents as children. Which is weird if you think about it, since they can imagine that a potato is a sword. But also not so weird, when you consider that you’ve been a towering giant (though steadily shrinking) to them the entire time they’ve known you.
Consequently, every single kid crosses this threshold, this moment when they realize that all the gigantors stomping about them were once little, like them. This realization can come romping down many different paths toward them. A flip through a family album, a Circle of Life scene onscreen, a story of when you, yourself, were an ankle biter among giants.
This epiphany can pass by like an unremarkable, barely believed, diaper-muffled poot for them, or it can rise like a mountain before their suddenly far-seeing eyes as a view to their taller future self, it seems. Or they’ll just ask you if you ate your boogers, too.
